It is important to understand that God’s will for us is health and prosperity, not disease and discord. In the third gospel of John it says, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. Sickness comes upon us, then, when we are in ignorance, fear, or sin; and so it is not the will of God. Again, the Scriptures say that God is a present help in trouble.
We just need to humble ourselves and pray in faith trusting God to heal us. Jesus healed all types of disease and His disciples did likewise. The question is therefore: how did
Jesus heal? Our leader, Mary Baker Eddy tells that he beheld in Science the perfect man where
sinful man appears to mortals, and that it was this correct view that healed the sick; so that in
Christian Science we deny the discord and exchange it for the spiritual truth about man.
Healing in Christian Science is a revealing of what man is, not what he appears to be; and our
leader tells that God will heal the sick through man whenever man is governed by God.
